1992 Gibson Star ebony

Made in USA

Excellent condition, 8/10, Made in USA, including original hardcase, no fret wear, more info: Designed and built by master luthier Ren Ferguson, the Gibson Star was introduced in 1991, following the same size and shape as four other Gibson guitars of the time: the J-185, J-180, J-200 Junior, and the J-2000. As company advertising phrased it, "The Star embodies all of the fine features of a world-class handbuilt acoustic guitar with the advantages of a cutaway acoustic electric The cutaway body offers the comfortable access to the finger-board needed for acoustic music of the '90s." This model's name is symbolized by eight mother-of-pearl stars inlaid in the fingerboard and a single larger one on the peghead. Its solid-wood construction includes maple back and sides, with a top of Sitka Spruce, bound in white celluloid, enhancing the white edge of the contoured pickguard. The carved rosewoood bridge is of the radiused "mustache" design created for the J-2000. The 24 3/4" scale, in addition to giving the instrument that characteristic Gibson feel, blends well with the hand-tuned, scalloped bracing in producing a punchy yet mellow tone that can be amplified with the acoustic/electric pickup and preamp. Nitrocelluslose lacquer finishes are offered in either vintage sunburst or ebony. The Star lived up to expectations, selling well and filling the targeted void. Gibson accurately predicted that there are enough musicians who want a modern electric/acoustic flat-top that integrates current electronics technology and the highest-quality construction.
