Very Good condition, 7/10, Made in Japan, including hardcase, solid cedar top and laminated indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard, lots of little dents and marks in the finish all over, play wear around the soundhole from playing, an ugly finish damage on the lower side of the top and a repaired crack on the bass side of the fingerboard, Masaki Sakurai was a student with Masaru Kohno and since Kohno´s death 1998 builds the professional grade Kohno guitars, more info:
Masaki Sakurai, nephew of the great Japanese guitar maker Masaru Kohno, was born in 1944. He studied electrical engineering at Sophia University and joined Kohno Guitar Manufacturing after graduating in 1967. In 1988, he won the prestigious first prize at the Fourth International Paris Guitar Making Competition. Masaki Sakurai's guitars are of impeccable craftsmanship and are known for their ease of playing and great volume of sound.
This beautiful guitar has all the aesthetic qualities of Kohno guitars, such as perfect craftsmanship and a finely grained spruce top.
It has rosewood back and sides. The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 52 mm.
