Non Functioning, 3/10, Made in Sweden, no case, we have found this instrument in a list from 1998 where all the known Swedish Lutes are registered (www.tabulatura.com/SITTRA7.htm) and it was then part of Blekinge Läns Museum-collection as BLM2442 but was sold to a collector since then, removed fingerboard, spruce top and flamed maple body, maple neck, complete tuners, lots of pieces of wood floating around inside the body (perhaps the pieces that are missing on the outside?), has an internal label "Repaired by Alfred Brock 1918", built for 6 strings over the fingerboard and 5 bass strings, Kraft was an instrument maker in Stockholm, Sweden circa 1780-1807, and he became Purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden(in Swedish "hovinstrumentmakare") in 1805, more info from historian Christopher O'Regan found online:

"Mathias Petter/Peter/Pehr Kraft was the foremost of the Swedish instrument makers of the Gustavian era, and made stringed instruments that were used by, among others, none other than Carl Michael Bellman. He also came to create what was called "the Swedish lute", a development of the cistern with an extra neck with several exposed bass strings that allowed a greater musical range. The lute was made in his workshop at the corner of Herkulesgränd and Norra Smedjegatan in Norrmalm, an address that is now completely obliterated to both name and street as well as house, and which today forms the path through the mall Gallerian in Stockholm city."

PLEASE NOTE; AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION AND ADVICE FROM HISTORIANS WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO RESTORE THESE OLD INSTRUMENTS AS THEY DESERVE TO FALL INTO THE HANDS OF A DEDICATED MUSEUM/COLLECTOR WHO UNDERSTANDS THEIR TRUE VALUE EVEN WITH THE FLAWS THAT THEY MAY HAVE AFTER A LONG LIFE. SO TAKE NOTE THAT THIS INSTRUMENT IS SOLD AS-IS WITHOUT WARRANTY, PREFERABLY TO SOMEONE WHO CAN PICK IT UP IN OUR STORE AND SEE THE CONDITION THEMSELVES AS WE ARE NOT ABLE TO DESCRIBE EVERY DETAIL. BUT WE DO SHIP WORLD WIDE. /THE MUSEUM DIVISION OF OSCAR GUITARS
