Good condition, 6/10, Made in USA, including worn original hardcase, here´s a chance to own a player grade 335 from one of the best years when the neck still had the narrow width but the neck size increased a little bit so it feels bigger and more comfortable according to many guitarists, all original parts except for the knobs and the bridge pickup mounting ring which is a black repro ring but the neck pickup ring is a M69/MR491 with height 7 (the rings came in different heights as designated by a number code with 8 or 9 for the bridge pu and 7 or 6 for the neck), correct narrow bevel pickguard, correct lower flower pot inlay in the headstock, correct Kluson Deluxe Double Line Double Ring tuners typical for this era, refinished back of neck all the way down to the body with black finish on the upper part (until about the 5th fret or so) that seems to cover an old neck repair as there is an uneven section below the first fret with a clear line in the wood, the serial on the back of the headstock is very hard to read but looks like 523127 which places the guitar in 1968, has had a professional refret where the nibs were removed, a large patch of belt buckle wear on the back of the body, replaced knobs (should have witch hats), has the large f-holes that first appeared in 1968, some say the 1968 ES-335s are the last of the great 335s with the one piece neck, the long tenon (gone by mid 69) and many have pre T-Top Patent Sticker humbuckers, we would have to remove the covers on these 2 pickups to be sure which version this is, but we won´t since they are still sealed, and reading up on this the 68´s also appears to have pre T-tops as they have the Philips screws on the back which isn’t conclusive, otherwise the info on early T-tops is that Second half of 1967 to 1975: Patent number pickups with plain enamel wire and white and black leads, T-top, "patent no." sticker, no longer has hole in bobbin showing wire, orange wire, short magnet, screws on bottom of base are usually slotted but could be phillips. "L" toolmark can be seen on early T-top pickups., more info: Like the Les Paul, the ES-335 stands as one of Gibson's all-time most iconic models. The ES-335 is a semi-hollowbody guitar which means that it has a solid block of wood running through its center with hollow wings on either side. This construction style maintains the open tone of a hollowbody while helping to reduce feedback. The ES-335 was introduced in 1958 and has remained in production in various forms ever since. The official model designation of the ES-335 is ES-335TD, with the TD standing for thinline, double pickups.
