1963 Fender Stratocaster refin olympic white
Made in USA
Good condition, 6.5/10, Made in USA, no case, refinished by Hasse at the AdLib workshop (the main guru in Sweden) in the 1980s after the guitar was imported from England in 1979 by the famous Led Zeppelin producer Lennart Östlund who was in England to witness the last Zep gig, the guitar was purchased from the guitar player of Manfred Mann (no proof available, this is hearsay but we don´t doubt it, Swedes are not known for making stuff up...) and at one point Mark Knopfler tried to buy it but to no avail, here are the specs; original finish on the neck and headstock, original spaghetti logo, refretted a long time ago (worn frets) and new nut, has a sticker on the back of the headstock with the name of the first Swedish owner, new back plate (white), nice contour carve in the body with the famous diamond shape at the end, the tremolo spring claw in the back still shows some of the guitars history as it is covered in black paint and there are traces of fiesta red over the grey undercoat under the neck plate in the screw holes and also in the fully red painted bass side of the neck pocket (no paint stick as was used by the factory in 1963) so the guitar was probably first refinished red, then refinished black and then restored to OLW, we are just happy that the contours of the body are still preserved after all this sanding and refinishing, the neck date is 2JAN63B and the rosewood fingerboard is curved (not slab as the year before), all 3 pots are dated 3046306 (6th week of 1963), untouched black bottom pickups, the 3-way switch is replaced with a later 1965-1973 white center wheel version, original pickguard and aluminium shield, original tremolo and saddles, non-original repro tremolo arm, original knobs, replaced switch tip (creme yellow), bridge pickup measures 5,53kOhm, middle 5,50kOhm and neck 5,59kOhm
