Very warm and fat and not thin like other emulators. The Groove Tube Speaker Emulator and power attenuator allows you to use your amp as a recording preamp. You can crank your amp to get the tones you want at recording level volumes, even silent. Groove Tube equipment are the highest quality, most well thought out designs that surpass even modern devices.

"The Speaker Emulator (our first US patent #4,937,874) was developed first as an integral part of our STP-G, which was released in 1986. Our Speaker Emulator stand-alone product came a few years later and signaled a new and innovative approach to recording a classic tube amp. At the heart of this product is a reactive load design that parallels the load of a particularly good sounding speaker, the early Celestion G12 15W speaker that was in early Marshall and Vox amps. The Speaker Emulator combines this patented reactive load with a sophisticated pole filtering system (a type of EQ) which creates resonance to emulate various cabinet designs. This EQ section can also be defeated for driving another guitar amp rather than a full-range PA or studio monitor."
