Gibson's first true attempt at a reproduction of the legendary '59 Les Paul Standard, the Heritage Series Standard 80 Paul remains mostly true to vintage spec with some subtle variations. Years of Production: 1980-82
Good condition, 6,5/10, Made in USA, including original hardcase with the original receipt from March 1987, weighs 4,5kg (nearly 10lbs) so definitely not a feather, has an extra catalogue number 1873 stamped on the back of the neck, this guitar has lots of stories but here is a chance to get into a real player at a decent price, this guitar was bought directly from an ex-employee at Swedish Gibson distributor Muskantor back in 1987 and when he got it it was already in need of love; missing pickups, refretted (before 1987) with a new nut, refinished back (only one layer of nitro) which now has lots of belt buckle wear, but he immediately purchased a set of brand new (remember this was in 1987) original Gibson humbuckers and had them installed, the pickups have all the tell tale signs of being Tim Shaw pickups (both have the characteristic metal-stamped "Pat. No. 2,737,842" tailpiece patent number, metal-over-cloth-covered wire leads, brass screws, dated in ink stamp FEB 6 1980, one row of pole screws, aftermarket chrome covers with sloppy soldering), the pots are dated 1378045, 1378045, 1378029 and 1378029, except for the pickups the guitar has all original parts, it also has a repaired headstock break, more info: Gibson's first true attempt at a reproduction of the legendary '59 Les Paul Standard, the Heritage Series Standard 80 Paul remains mostly true to vintage spec with some subtle variations.
