Good condition, 6,5/10, Made in USA, including original Järna hardcase (always supplied by Swedish importer/distributor Hagström with all Scandinavian-sold Fenders) with replaced handle

Some specs:

-weight 3,54kg / 7,8lbs

-neck stamped 2OCT63B

-curved fingerboard

-worn frets, has been refretted in the past

-this guitar has an over sprayed neck/headstock/logo) and has been refinished in a color similar to the very popular fiesta red of this era with a somewhat coarse result but can easily be improved by a future owner, lots of red finish has stuck to the underside of the neck heel and also some black paint from the original sunburst is visible

-pots from week 5 of 2012 and modern switch (DM-50 5) but the original 3-way and era correct 3pc 3046340 (40th week of 1963) pots are in the case but the pots are solid shaft which leads us to believe they are from an amp as Fender used split shaft pots on their guitars

-at some point someone installed mini switches in the guitar and drilled 2 holes in the pickguard and a round route in the body to accommodate this

-3pc original black bottom pickups with original solder joints so no re-wounds

-missing back plate (but a modern back plate is included)

The history of the guitar is that the previous owner purchased it in 1974 used from the music store Musik-Eylis in the Swedish town Lidköping where the saxophone player of the band Cool Candys (Gunnar "Stuffe" Wahlgren) had recently taken over as store owner, and there is a name on the case pocket lid Björn Andersson (see the black and white pics) which we after doing some research believe could be the Björn Andersson who played in the dance music orchestra Ji Coo's from the Swedish town Arvika which was the foundation for the very famous group Vikingarna (Swedens most famous and successful dance orchestra of all time), Björn was later replaced in the band with Gunnar Olsson who is credited as the founder of Vikingarna. The story behind this band was that in 1959-60 the record company Odeon - now called EMI - together with Ji Coo's band leader Jens Carlson added the word -and the Vikings-  to Ji Coo's. So the new name was now Ji Coo and the Vikings. The band split up and one part kept the name Vikings which became Vikingarna in the early 1970´s, the guitar was then used with the band Bröderna Jakop (see the coloured pics) until their last rehearsal on December 6th 1974 and since then it has only been used occasionally on home recordings but spent most of it´s life in the case
